The all-Dutch lineup of recent crowned F2 champion Nyck de Vries, ex-F1 star Giedo van de Garde, and Frits van Eerd celebrated their maiden LMP2 victory at Fuji.

It was a highly competitive six hours at Fuji, with the lead in the LMP2 class changing hands often, but the final two hours saw one of the most monumental performances of the class history.

With the race entering it’s final third de Vries took to the helm of the #29car, the team a lap down and over 90 seconds off the leader in class.

However, unrelenting pace and assertion in traffic saw the 24-year-old climb up the order, and through strategy was able to jump ahead of the JOTA Sport car with 25 minutes to spare.

The RTN squad have had a difficult first three years competing at Le Mans, and their debut WEC season in 2018/19 saw them pick up a beast result of 5th at Silverstone. Fundamental to the teams improved form this season has been the boost in driver performance, thanks largely to the move away from the Dallara P217 and to the Oreca 07.
