Toyota take straightforward win at Fuji, as Team Nederland claim maiden LMP2 victory

The #8 Toyota TS050 of Sebastian Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Kazuki Nakajima took a comfortable win in the second round of the 2019/20 WEC season at home at Fuji, Japan.

Despite being handed a drive-through penalty for speeding in the pitlane, the #8 lead home teammates Kamui Kobayashi, Mike Conway, and Jose Maria Lopez by 34 seconds at the flag.

The sole Rebellion of Bruno Senna, Norman Nato and Gustavo Menezes completed the podium two laps down, whilst the nearest Ginetta, the #5 car, suffered a brake failure late on left them 16 laps down, handing fourth in LMP1 to the #6 Ginetta.

Race Team Nederland claimed their first LMP2 class victory after a sensational drive by newly crowned F2 champion Nyck de Vries, who overturned a 90 second deficit to the class leaders after strong performances by teammates Giedo van der Garde and Frits van Erd.

The Aston Martin of Nicki This and Marco Sorenson took their first WEC victory for almost a year in GTE Pro, ahead of the Porsche of Kevin Estre and Michael Christensen.

TF Sport took their first WEC class victory in dominating fashion, as the trio of Salih Yoloc, Charlie Eastwood and Jonathan Adam stormed to victory.
